JH CLAIMS & ASSOCIATES is an independent and multidisciplinary grouping of Marine and Cargo Surveyors, Loss Adjusters and Consultants, whose purpose is to share resources and distribute their costs, as well as to coordinate the different specific services provided, serving as a communication channel between clients and professionals who efficiently carry out their professional activity.
Our main activity is the issuing of reports and studies that provide technical, expert and legal support to claims or consulting, mainly in the fields of marine insurance, transport and logistics. Our reports are an effective and reliable tool, and allow any party interested in their content to make decisions.
We therefore act as Loss Adjusters, Cargo Surveyors and Consultants, and our interventions include the adjustment, settlement and determination of damages and their causes, as well as the evaluation and assessment of the risks and assets or interests subject to insurance.
JH CLAIMS & ASSOCIATES consists mainly of engineers, maritime captains and officers, and experts in various disciplines. In general, each of them has more than 25 years of experience. We are geographically deployed to cover the whole of Spain (including the Canary Islands), which allows us to reduce and adjust travel time and expenses. JH CLAIMS & ASSOCIATES only accept jobs for which we are fully qualified by training or because we have acquired sufficient qualifications through previous experience. We value our expertise and consequently do not act as a mere broker, increasing the fees of other professionals. In such circumstances, we prefer to recommend the direct appointment of a third party.
But since, in daily practice, it is not possible to have knowledge of all types of products and all the necessary skills, we sometimes need the collaboration of specialists in certain fields to support our interventions: shipping experts, meteorologists, bromatologists, art specialists, laboratories and a variety of other disciplines. Although surveys may appear to be an individual activity, in fact we provide teamwork.

In May 2025, Javier Hidalgo, founder and CEO of JH CLAIMS & ASSOCIATES, retired and ceased all his direct and remunerated activities in Spain.
The activities of JH CLAIMS & ASSOCIATES, since that date, are directed and coordinated by Pablo Vila Chirinos. Pablo holds a Law Degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He holds a Master LLM in Maritime Law from Swansea University in the United Kingdom, and a Master in Access to the Legal Profession from the Camilo José Cela University in Madrid.
He is also a cargo surveyor and claims adjuster with international experience. He worked with Javier Hidalgo in Madrid, Lima, Santo Domingo and Valencia, gaining direct experience in cargo surveys of various types and nature, and in coordination, supervision and report writing activities. Pablo has travelled tirelessly, and has lived in several countries; he is a member of the Valencia Bar Association, the Spanish city where he resides.
